University Makes Money Off Of Keeing Cows Sick

Cornell University continues to support the conventional milking machines and the failed practices of the NMC. Data from the USDA National Agricultural Services discloses the fact that the U.S. cull rate (slaughter) of dairy cows has doubled in the past 40 years and is now at nearly 50%. Milk quality data for U.S. dairies also shows that over 23% of dairy farms are not capable of routinely providing quality milk with SCC levels over 400,000 per ml. The simple fact is that millions of dairy cows needlessly die annually at an age of around 4 years old as a result of the conventional milking machines with the support of Cornell.

calfThe sad fact is that it will take this calf two years to reach maturity and produce milk and within another two years conventional milking machines will have destroyed her udder and she will likely be slaughtered for beef.

The substantial damage and pain inflicted by conventional milking machines causes mastitis (bacterial infections) and literally tears the soft tissue flesh of the teat canal lining. The result is a loss of the natural defense mechanisms of the teat canal to help keep bacteria out and an inability of the cow to milk properly. This damage causes uneven udders and eventually the complete loss of function of the associated quarter of the udder. The milk quality of the cow diminishes and the production drops. The end result is that a young animal that has produced milk for only a year or two is sent to be slaughtered. Dairy beef represents a substantial percentage of the U.S. beef supply.
